The game is really worth the €15 it costs, which is a low price for such a big game. Because of this I can only give a score of 6/10. But casual players will get a bit demotivated due to the older mechanics. To sum up this review, I really like the remastered version, it feels a lot smoother, it looks way better and brings you back to the good old days.

The multiplayer is very stable which is a big plus and all the maps from the original game are still compatible with the remastered version. The Cutscenes however are still completely original and do stand out a little. The resolution has been adapted to our newer monitors so you will not have to deal with the black bars ons the sides. The Units and the maps are a lot more detailed than they used to be, also the units realy stick out which is a good change. You now also have a zooming option, so you can in fact zoom in on your troops. Other things that changed in StarCraft: Remastered are the fact that you can now easily change your hotkeys, which can make your experience a lot smoother. However because of these older mechanics it feels a lot more familiar and gets you much more of those nostalgic feels. The pathfinding of the units is not nearly what we know in StarCraft ll or other newer Strategy games. Because of this the somewhat outdated mechanics and flaws of the older RTS games are still intact. StarCraft is still a very big player in the eSports community and it was this community that asked the developers, Blizzard, for the remastered version, they however just wanted a graphic and performance update. Back then this game was a true gamechanger and the remastered version manages to get you back into it very easily. I immediately pictured my 8 year old self back in my room when I first played the original StarCraft. When starting StarCraft: Remastered for the first time and seeing the opening cutscene, you get hit with a big load of nostalgia. And now on August 14th 2017 StarCraft: Remastered was released.

In January of ’99 the Brood War expansion pack came out. StarCraft originally was released in March 1998. There is both a singleplayer where every mission or battle leads to the events of the next one and a Multiplayer which is still very popular to this day in the Esports, especially in Korea. Depending on which side you choose to fight with, there will be slightly different events happening in a bigger timeline. Terrans are the humans from earth with all the advanced combat technology, the Zerg are slimy aliens with a hive-mind and the Protoss are a more robotic-like entity with shields and energy weapons. In this adventure, you take on the role of the Terrans, Zerg or Protoss.

For anyone who doesn’t know StarCraft, it’s a Real Time Strategy Game or RTS for short.
